What You'll Receive:

One (1) Foxglove Beardtongue starter plug - a young, healthy plant with an established root system, ready to bring elegant vertical beauty and support native pollinators.

Bring elegant vertical beauty to your garden with Foxglove Beardtongue! This reliable New England native produces tall spikes of white tubular flowers that create stunning cottage garden appeal while supporting native bees and hummingbirds. Far more adaptable than its non-native foxglove cousins, this perennial tolerates heat, humidity, and even clay soils with ease. Its glossy semi-evergreen foliage provides year-round interest, turning burgundy purple in fall and winter.

Outstanding Features:

Pollinator Powerhouse: Attracts bumblebees, mason bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies with abundant nectar and pollen throughout late spring and early summer.

Clay Tolerant: Unlike many natives, thrives in heavy clay soils, making it perfect for tough New England Garden conditions.

Low Maintenance: Extremely hardy and disease-resistant, requiring minimal care once established. Tolerates drought, heat, and humidity.

Winter Interest: Semi-evergreen foliage turns attractive burgundy shades in fall, providing color through winter months.

Plant Specifications:

Light: Full sun to partial shade (4-8 hours)

Soil: Average to rich; tolerates clay, loam, and sandy soils Moisture: Medium to moist; drought tolerant once established Height: 3-5 feet tall, 1.5-2 feet spread

Bloom Time: May to July (late spring to early summer)

Hardiness: Zones 3-8 (perfect for New England)

Growing Tips:

Plant starter plugs 18-24 inches apart in spring or fall. Foxglove Beardtongue adapts to various soil types but performs best with good drainage. Deadhead spent flower stalks to encourage reblooming and prevent excessive self-seeding. Divide clumps every 3-4 years in spring if they become crowded. Excellent for cottage gardens, pollinator gardens, meadows, and naturalized areas. Very successful in Rhode Island and Massachusetts gardens, handling our variable spring weather and summer heat with ease.
